Challenge​
Analysis of data released by the Center for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED) in 2010 shows that floods are the most frequent type of disaster in Indonesia, accounting for approximately 34% of all disaster events in the country.
Definition
The Flood Early Warning System is a device that uses the AWLR telemetry system, enabling sensors to detect changes in river water levels. The digital data detected by these sensors is then transmitted to a server in real time. The system is also equipped with a siren that activates when a potential flood is detected, as well as CCTV cameras to provide a clearer visual picture.
