Air Quality Monitoring System (AQMS)

Mertani's Air Quality Monitoring System (AQMS) is a solution for automatic and real-time air quality monitoring, designed to provide accurate information on air pollution levels and the development of the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU).​
Challenge

In an attempt to provide accurate and transparent information to the public regarding environmental conditions, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, through the Directorate of Air Pollution Control in the Directorate General of Environmental Quality Management (Ditjen PPKL), has taken significant steps by establishing a continuous ambient air quality monitoring system known as the Air Quality Monitoring System (AQMS).

KLHK Air Quality Monitoring System assists the government in identifying areas with high pollution levels, evaluating the effectiveness of existing environmental policies, and planning more efficient air pollution control measures.

Study Case
Installation of AWS, AQMS, and AWLR for Mining Area in West Kutai, East Kalimantan

In March 2025, the Mertani team carried out the installation of three types of devices, namely AWS, AQMS, and AWLR, in West Kutai, East Kalimantan. Each device has its own role, where AWS serves to monitor weather conditions, AQMS to monitor air quality, and AWLR to monitor channel water levels. Overall, they aim to support a real-time environmental monitoring system, which can help in disaster risk mitigation efforts and better management of natural resources.
